Kutchan is situated at the base of Mount Yotei, an extinct volcano on the North Island of Hokkaido, Japan. Similar to Mount Fuji, Mount Yotei is an iconic image for the region and has formed the basis of every festivals main image. We decided to play with the notion of a volcanic eruption representing music and festivities.
